Unique Wedding Locations: Marking Your Wedding on the Map

It’s often funny to think how so many people drag their feet when it comes to getting married and how others jump into it head-on with no protective gear whatsoever! I sometimes wonder if it’s the age, the season(here comes June!) or the circumstances they are currently in or anticipate to be in in the future that makes people all nervous or giddy. Whatever the case, the road to getting married is one of life’s craziest moments that will most likely bear great tales to be told for generations to come.

What gets most people so worried they’re just half a yard short of walking back out the door is the extensive wedding planning process. From which of the dozens of wedding venues in Orange County to choose, to what to wear and who to invite, it takes a lot of sleepless days that run into weeks and months with more chores just piling up over the couple’s heads. Married life is just like that in every way: chaotic, unpredictable, and often too much to handle. But if you’re both hand in hand and ready to face the beginning of this exciting ride together, there will be nothing you both can’t conquer.

So let’s just start with the most important question: where to hold the wedding? Yes, this is a Blog about Orange County wedding venues, but there’s so many other destinations to consider. You may be a native New Yorker who’s getting hitched to the most special Japanese woman, or a Texas country girl about to marry an Orange County beach dude, there are no limits to the wedding locations you can both explore. In fact, some people have gone ahead of you and chosen some of the most outrageous destination weddings ever known(yes, there are a lot of secrets this world holds!). Here’s a list of the most mind-boggling, what-the-hell-were-they-thinking-it-was-crazy-awesome wedding location ideas.

1. Up, Up and Away

True love probably has had you on Cloud 9 since Day One. Well, some couples in Mexico have taken this too literally that they chose to get married amidst the clouds during the International Balloon Festival. With hot air balloons large enough to hold eight to ten people, brides and grooms can take the bravest of their wedding parties up in the air to bear witness to their union. I guess it would be quite reasonable if parents choose to stay behind. After all, they are already giving away their sons and daughters in marriage, no need really to go the extra mile.. or height!

2. I Do..But It’s Cold

.

If you’re the kind of couple who believe your love for each other is as fierce as crackling fire in the winter, then you’ll probably have no problem getting married on top of a glacier. There’s a special place in Alaska that caters specifically for weddings like these but with great logistical costs. Only a helicopter can get you and your wedding on top of the glacier and special precautions like long fur coats and special boots need to be used to prevent hypothermia and slipping on the ice. You’ll have to get a cruise ship however to get you near it before your helicopter ride takes you to an ice cold wedding ceremony.

3. If You Fall Asleep Down By the Water

Beach weddings in Orange County are the top choices for destination weddings and are by far one of the most popular options if you want a wedding with a laidback, outdoorsy vibe. Bridal shops that specialize in beach wedding dresses are on practically every corner in Newport Beach. However, some couples take it a notch higher by getting married on a float or on a cruise ship with the colorful backdrop of the sunset. Cruise ship weddings may cause a big dent on the budget but provide you with the convenience of a ceremony location and reception in one. If you set it on a scenic route, you can also get the best out of your wedding photos with the changing backgrounds and breathtaking scenery. It’s almost like you got married more than once(but to each other every time)!

4. Cheers to Forever

If you’re both fans of the rich, oaky texture of wine and the simplicity and elegance which it exudes in a glass, then getting married in a winery could be the perfect destination to celebrate a love everlasting. There are a number of wineries, not just Napa Valley, that cater to private wedding ceremonies and give you their best wines as compliments on your big day. Your guests might need to travel a little outside of their comfort zones, but you can assure them of a relaxing and luxurious time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The valleys will give you the perfect opportunity to have an intimate celebration with your families and closest friends while enjoying great wine and a great life.

5. A Love to Go Down in History

Carrie Bradshaw wanted to get married amidst books that tell of iconic love stories and romanticism that even generations after her will be talking about. Some couples take their cue from this wild heroine and opt for weddings held in museums, historic buildings, or ancient ruins that hold stories of their own. More than just joining the bandwagon of extreme destination weddings, these couples have come to understand and love the history which made the world what it is today and realizing how it has led them both to each other, even indirectly. There is a lot to be admired about strong foundations and this is primarily what makes historic Orange County wedding venues popular among would-be married couples. Casino San Clemente is one of the more popular places to get married. This historic location is in San Clemente, California. There seems to be no better place to begin the roots of a lasting relationship than in a place that continuously withstands the test of time.

Destination weddings demand great effort and careful planning. While the task may seem daunting, it definitely yields results that could be way beyond what you originally imagined. When choosing from the available wedding venues in Orange County, think of the places that are most dear to you and your partner and the feasibility of celebrating your big day where you first met, or had your first kiss, or told your parents about the life you’re planning to build together. Your day will sure be more significant if it is held in a place you’ll never forget.
